I figure I'd start this area of the forum off with a tale of poor packaging, rough handling, and shattered expectations.

About 3 years ago I was scrounging around on Ebay looking for a good deal on an Amiga computer. After some time I came across a listing for and Amiga 2000 complete with monitor keyboard and mouse, all for only $300.  In the listing the seller claims to know little about them but that they worked and belonged to his father.  The pictures looked promising  so I decided to take a chance and bought it. Within a day I receive confirmation that my package was on its way (woo hoo!). Little did I know what would arrive.

Fast forward 1 week. I return home from work to find this:
400x300

Never in my life have I ever seen so many stamps on a package before. More importantly however is the box is split open... Certainly not a good omen.
So I carefully lug the thing inside and begin to tear it open.
400x300

Things have gone from bad to worse. except for the super thin layer of bubble wrap there is virtually no packing material around or in-between anything. Thus allowing everything inside to bounce around freely. And boy oh boy did things bounce.

400x300
Cracks in the monitor

400x300
Crushed keyboard.

300x400
And a completely clobbered A2000 case.
Worst of all, everything inside was shaken loose too. Needless to say I was both disappointed and frustrated. Thankfully after corresponding with the seller we came to an arrangement that I would receive a half refund and keep the damaged unit as is. With that settled I began the process of repair and withing a short time managed to get a successful boot.

Here you can see the keyboard damage a little better.

After much patience and even more glue, I managed to restore the front cover to a respectable appearance.

Moral of the story? Packing material makes ALL of the difference.

Well, I suppose now is the time for me to say something profound.

I got nothing.

The front cover looks fine fixed, but that poor keyboard... packing material does matter.

A signature? I haven't had one of these in a long time...
